WaterfallThe Jefferson Institute offers six levels of English. These levels are based on the Common European Framework of language proficiency (A1 to C2). Each level consists of two parts, and each part lasts for four weeks. It is possible to join a level for part 2 based on your score on the placement test.

The courses at the Jefferson Institute are suitable for students who want conversational English and for those who want academic English. You will learn survival English in the lower levels. In order to be successful in your everyday life, you must be able to handle a variety of situations, such as calling the phone company to have a new line installed or telling the doctor about your ailments. You need to be able to interact with all kinds of Americans, to understand them and make yourself understood.

The higher levels that we offer are designed for those who want to study at an American university. There is a huge difference between conversational English and academic English. In order to be successful at a university, you must have a larger vocabulary, the ability to write effectively and good study skills. It takes years to gain this knowledge and these skills, so you need to be prepared to put in the hours of study to reach your academic goals.
